Seriously...

Lately, Derrick and I have been off to visit lots of doctors. My RSD has come back after an incident with one of my students. Then, last week we found out that Derrick has a hernia. Through this process, we have met all kinds of doctors. Some with personalities we appreciate and enjoy, and others that we're glad when the appointment is over. The doctor I have seen most often is quite funny, without his own knowledge. There are framed old newspapers all over his office. Instead of art on the walls or magazines in the waiting room, there are Kansas City newspapers dating back to the 1950's. His quirky way of dealing with us left something to be desired, but his knowledge of RSD and its treatment was exactly what we were seeking. I met my physical therapist this week, and he seems nice. Once again, he knew how to help me and for that, I am completely grateful. Yesterday, we met my pain management doctor. The conversation wasn't long. His analogy (and majority of conversation) of my current dealings with RSD was this: "Same book. Another chapter." So, he gave me a lumbar sympathetic block to numb my right leg. They sedated me so I don't remember much...just tears, and afterward telling Derrick I deserved a cookie (which he got for me I might add). My leg is feeling MUCH better this morning! Please pray this will continue.

On Monday, we go talk to the surgeon for Derrick. Please pray this conversation goes well. We'll update you on this as well!

The verses below have helped us a lot the last month or so:

Psalm 94:16-19
16-19 Who stood up for me against the wicked?
Who took my side against evil workers?
If God hadn't been there for me,
I never would have made it.
The minute I said, "I'm slipping, I'm falling,"
your love, God, took hold and held me fast.
When I was upset and beside myself,
you calmed me down and cheered me up.

We're not letting this slow us down (look at previous posts) and are praying that continues. We've been dealing with it by ourselves for the last month and truly need prayers, so we let you all know!
