Josiah can't catch a break, poor baby. We finally get this dairy free thing figured it, then he gets some stomach bug, then a cold that just won't stop, now bronchiolitis and RSV. Seriously. All in just 6 months. I know there are so many terrible things that he could have, so many things that are a bigger deal and are more miserable (and I'm SO AMAZINGLY thankful we haven't dealt with those) but I've had quite enough, thank you.
Somehow, even with all his sickness and terrible sleeping habits, he's a really happy little guy. So, when this was his best face Sunday morning, we knew something was wrong.
By Sunday afternoon with some tylenol in him, he was a little better, not screaming as much, and didn't want to make you cry with how miserable he looked.
Monday we headed to the doctor where he showed off his muscles for me.
The doctor told me what he had and then followed it with "Most babies with RSV end up in the office every few days for up to a few weeks. He'll probably get an ear infection and maybe pneumonia. Here's a list of this to watch for...if he does ANY of these, you need to call our office IMMEDIATELY and we'll probably send you to the Children's hospital ER. He'll seem fine one day and then the next he'll be miserable again. This will probably go on for 4-6 weeks." dang. If you want to freak a mom out, give her a list of things to watch for that mean her kid is really sick and may have to go to the hospital especially if she hasn't slept in a week. Cause she's totally in control of her emotions by then.
We quickly learned the healing power of Ibuprofen and started to see these smiles again in between screaming fits.
Now, we're enjoying a cool head (48 hours fever free!) to kiss and praying that we're not enjoying the 'fine' days before it gets bad again. Poor little dude. We're praying he's healthy long enough for us to learn more about him. I feel like all we've done as parents for him is fight fires. I don't know what to tell other people to do to calm him down. I don't know what time he's going to go to sleep. I feel like theres so much about him we don't know yet. We do know is that he's a wonderful amazing gift from God. He loves his Momma. He smiles best when Sissy is around. He is really interested in Bella. He hates sleeping if he thinks there's better things going on, one whisper from Addilyn while he's trying to fall asleep and he's up.
