I tend to forget that 3.5 hour drives by yourself can be miserable with small children. Until I start driving. Then I become eternally grateful for every moment that doesn't include screaming.
This particular trip, I was first thankful that they were both asleep so quickly.
Then that only Josiah was awake, but that he was just talking.
Then that Josiahs cries hadn't woken Addilyn up yet.
Then, that Addilyn was awake and talking to Josiah so he stopped crying for a few minutes.
Then that there was a McDonalds to stop at and try to feed/distract both my children.
Then that the van has a 6 cylinder and I could pass the slow cars on the back roads so I could limit my time of hearing screaming...
Then that REALLY loud music and dance parties distracted Josiah for a few minutes (And, made Addilyn nervous..."Mommy!! You supposed to drive with BOTH hands")
Then that Addilyn was handling the screaming well and was lovingly worried about her brother ("Josigh sceem lot Mommy. He gonna be ok?")
Then for Grannie and Pops house.
Goodness.
But, as soon as we walked in Grannie and Pops house...there was cookie dough and no car seats.
Then, comes bed time. And I once again become thankful for each and every moment that doesn't include screaming. The first night they went down well...we won't talk about the last night. Or, that this picture was taken during nap time. ;)
The real reason we went to Wash MO...Chad's welcome home party. The kids had a blast.
Josiah stayed close to mom, Addilyn took some warming up time...then I barely saw her. She fell in love with kids, dirt, and most importantly, this big pink ball.
After we got home and got some naps, Josiah had a first...playing with his Uncle Chad. And, Addilyn stuck to snuggles from Grannie and Aunt Mags. She is really really interested in Chad, will talk about him, be excited he's going to be around, and then completely clam up. She won't talk to him, be next to him, play with him, nothing. But, then as soon as he leaves...she talks about him again. Tells you everything he did while he was around her. Weird kid.

Cousins checking each other out.
When I attempt (attempt people. I've never succeeded) to cut Josiah's nails, he squirms, cries, and pulls his arms away with super baby strength. Pops does it and he sits there calmly. Addilyn was the same way. So is cousin Lucy. Pops will forever cut my kids nails every time he sees them.
Addilyn was happy to discover on this trip that even though she's a big 3 year old, she can still take bath's in Grannie and Pops sink.
Fun with Great Grandmother
Addilyn has always enjoyed trips to Grannie's store...but this time she enjoyed it even more because Grannie had some surprises there for her.
ps. this new blogger format is taking some getting used to...sorry for all the pics in crazy locations! gez!
