Magic

Right as we got home from Branson, Grandma and Papa were at our house. Papa and Derrick made our bedroom a door and we tried to distract the kids with decorating the tree. The tree is now empty on the bottom thanks to Josiah. "Ball!!!!" Addilyn loves the prettiness of Christmas, she loves lights, pretty ornaments, and always corrects the nativity scene so that all pieces are looking at Baby Jesus.

I love watching Addilyn put all the matching ornaments together, love seeing Josiah find a ball on every decoration and get excited about it, absolutely completely love seeing Addilyn put Jesus at the center of everything. I am amazed at how somehow even with every Christmas movie about Santa and so many of her friends having that stupid Elf on the Shelf, she gets it. Already. She gets it. Jesus is the whole point. Santa is fun, sure. Ornaments and lights are pretty, yes. But, at the very center of it all, Jesus. Just Jesus. Please, Lord let her be my reminder of that. It doesn't matter what we buy our kids as gifts, what traditions we get to fit in this year, or what we remember about the season. It matters that on Christmas morning, we are singing Happy Birthday to Jesus. We know we are giving gifts because he gave us His life. Because His birthday changed our world forever. And that is real Christmas Magic.
